Numerous reports indicate that Obama is becoming increasingly conservative in office. He has recently brought back the Gitmo tribunals, and he has failed to uphold many of his other promises. Anyone else doubting that the change we need will be coming from Obama any time soon?

I mean, Obama has, within his first half year, opened discussions with Iran, Cuba, China, Libya, and North Korea. He has made a promise that all detainees that are caught under his rules will be given a fair domestic trial, and the ones caught during hte bush era that have to be tried under tribunals will get the real military tribunals, not the shitty ones bush did. He and Robert Gates have totally changed the defense budget, he's made relative progress with Israel, he's trying to turn over power in Iraq, he's dropped a lot of the intense, unilateral rhetoric of the bush administration, he's legalized stem cell research, he's worked out some basic rights for credit card holders, he's working on adopting an Alternative Energy policy, he's in the process of drafting preliminary health care legislation, he's been working with Musharraf to ensure Al Qaeda doesn't take over pakistan, he got amazingly high marks in a review by foreign policy analysts ranging from Charles Kupchan to Robert Kagan, he's banned torture (in most forms), and has stated publicly he wants a nuke free world.
Did I mention he did this while China and Russia are starting to increase their power projection, the EU is starting to replace the US as the leading economy in the world, we're facing the worst global recession since the 30s, Israel is on the verge of going to war again, there are at least two potential nuclear wars that could break out any day (israel and anyone; india and pakistan), pirates have been disrupting the sea trade, no one wants to work with the US, mexico is facing a crisis, and there are substantial portions of the country that will pounce on him for not doing exactly what he wants (from both sides)?
